NYC Attractions & Iconic Landmarks You Must Visit

A trip to New York City is bound to be a memorable one! It’s one of the most diverse cities in the world, filled with interesting people, incredible places, and a few NYC attractions & landmarks that are seen as iconic throughout the world! We don’t want you to miss out on any of them, so here’s a list of the most iconic landmarks in New York City that you simply must visit.

The Empire State Building

The Empire State Building is one of the defining features of the New York City skyline, so it was bound to make this list! It’s visited by millions of people per year, and exists as the highlight of many New York City tours. Completed in 1931, with 102 stories, it was a feat of engineering at its completion, and has become one of the most recognizable landmarks in NYC. If you’re sightseeing in New York, this should be one of your first stops.

Statue of Liberty

This statue, given to the people of the United States in 1886 as a gift from the people of France, is another landmark that will always come to mind when one thinks of New York.  It’s one of the most famous NYC attractions, and we encourage any tourists sightseeing in New York to get acquainted with this beautiful work of art.

Brooklyn Bridge

This hybrid cable-stayed/suspension bridge overhangs the East, connecting Brooklyn and Manhattan. It’s the oldest of both cable-stayed and suspension bridges, making it a major feat in architecture at its completion in 1883. This massive and majestic landmark is a must see for anyone interested in history or architecture, and will probably be appreciated by anyone who happens to pass by.

Central Park

Central Park is one of the biggest NYC attractions and the primary location of many New York bus tours. It’s America’s first major, landscaped national park, and consists of over 800 acres! Designed to look natural, it’s all entirely landscaped. 25,000 trees, 136 acres of woodlands, and 58 miles of walking paths require major upkeep year-round.

One World Trade Center

The One World Trade Center, completed thirteen years after the tragic events occurring on September 11, 2001, is an extremely important part of New York’s skyline, and is currently one of the biggest NYC attractions including their One World Observatory. This building stands at 1,776 feet tall in honor of the year the Declaration of Independence was signed. It’s extremely modern design features highly reflective glass that often take on the colors of the surrounding sky. It’s a truly beautiful sight among the other NYC attractions, and a must see for anyone visiting New York City.

Rockefeller Center

We highly suggest visiting Rockefeller Center, especially if you’re visiting during the holiday season. In 1931, during Rockefeller Center’s construction and in the middle of the Great Depression, workers pooled their money and purchased a 20 ft tall tree, and thus an iconic NYC Christmas tradition was born.  The annual tree lighting ceremony brings in thousands of spectators every year, and if you’re in town, it’ll definitely be a good use of your time!
