5 New Ways to Celebrate the Fourth of July
As the Fourth of July approaches, most Americans are probably cleaning their grills, dusting off their badminton rackets, or buying some new flip flops for the beach. Go out of your comfort zone this year and switch things up to make sure your holiday is remembered for years to come. Here are 5 new and creative ways to celebrate Independence Day this year.
1. Watch fireworks from a new perspective
It isn’t the Fourth of July without a spectacular fireworks display! Book a seat on our 4th of July Boat Cruise right here in NYC to hit all your holiday cravings: buffets, booze, and dancing. Get waterside, front-row seats to the world-famous New York City fireworks show that overlook the picturesque skyline and start a new tradition. It’s no small boat either - we’ll have three full floors of dancing, a live DJ, and of course great food and drinks.
2. Set up a water balloon contest
Give your backyard barbeque a boost by starting some fun yard games. Water balloon contests are easy to set up and fun for all ages to help ring in the summer season. Water balloon relay races, pinatas, and tag are all great ways to join in on the fun. In fact, you might even want to invite the whole neighborhood...
3. Host a party
Because who doesn’t love a good block party? Besides, if you’re going to the trouble of getting out the water balloons and yard games, you might as well just make a party out of it! People make plans for the 4th pretty early though, so you might want to get started planning your party sooner rather than later. Lucky for you, there are plenty of free event planning tools out there to help you track your invites and RSVPs, provide information to everyone about the event, and even link it up to your Facebook. Tell everyone to bring their own drinks, maybe even some food, and just have a good time!
4. Participate in a hot dog eating contest
What’s more American than hot dogs on a hot summer day? Get your fill at the Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest in Coney Island and try to unseat last year’s winner. All it takes is ten minutes and about 73 hotdogs to take home the coveted Mustard Belt!
5. Watch a movie under the stars
Finish the night’s festivities in a new take on an old classic. Gather the neighborhood, pop in your favorite patriotic movie, and enjoy it in the summer breeze by renting an inflatable outdoor movie screen. Add some beanbags and s’mores to turn your party up a notch and make it one for the books.
However you choose to spend it, the Fourth of July is a great time to gather your friends and family to celebrate. Whether you choose to be adventurous, creative, or wild, there are always new and exciting ways to honor the country and enjoy the company of your loved ones.
